The K40Y-9 are very high quality PIO capacitors. Their conductor is made of aluminum foil, the dielectric is oil-saturated paper, and their metal body is sealed with glass. Their construction and performance are similar to the Sprague Vitamin Q capacitors which sell for much higher prices. 

They provide excellent sonic characteristics, and make great tone capacitors for Guitars and Bass.
