500K pots are the standard for humbuckers, 250K are generally used for single coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer sound than a 500K, and attenuates some of the high frequencies to ground. However, if you want to keep the high frequencies, it is possible to correct this attenuation with treble bleed.

Note: If you are not sure if your guitar uses a long (3/4") shaft or a short (3/8"), please check before ordering. As a general rule, this pot will fit most guitars made in the U.S. and Mexico, but it is always safer to check the bushing diameter and pot height. Fit most Gibson Les Paul's manufactured before 1977 and historic reissues.

If your guitar is an import... and you want to update the pots, you may have to enlarge the diameter of the holes on the body very slightly.

When installing the knobs, be sure to pinch the end of the shaft before installing them, this will prevent you from jamming them or knocking the shaft off the pots. If this hasn't happened to you before...

PDB183-GTR - Guitar Potentiometer Push-Pull Switch

Bourns® Model PDB183-GTR Guitar Potentiometer with Push-Pull Switch allows the guitarist multiple functions utilizing a single control such as split-coil switching for humbucking pickups or stacked single-coil pickups, active electronics activation, and pickup phase switching.

The potentiometer is designed with a single shaft that is used to activate the Double-Pole, Double-Throw (DPDT) switch and to adjust the potentiometer. The DPDT switch can be wired for various switch functions.
