While some players use them for volume, most prefer Audio Taper (A) for volume to match how the human ear perceives loudness.

Each pot includes a flat washer, a lock washer, and mounting nuts.
500K Audio Taper are the standard for humbucker pickups while 250K are typically used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer sound than a 500K and attenuates some of the high frequencies to ground. However, if you want to retain the high frequencies, it is possible to correct this attenuation with a treble bleed.
Note: When installing the knobs, be sure to lightly pinch the ends of the split shaft before pressing them on. This prevents the knob from jamming or damaging the internal mechanism of the pot.
