Reliable, smooth, and durable. These CTS 500K Audio Taper long split shaft (3/4") are designed for thick-profile guitar tops. They provide the necessary length to pass through carved maple, various wood species, and internal metal grounding plates. They are primarily used as volume or tone controls on guitars equipped with humbucker pickups.

Long-shaft (3/4") 500K pots are used in particular on Gibson Les Paul models (Standard, Custom, Studio, and Classic) manufactured after 1977. They are also the first choice of major manufacturers and high-end custom builders.
500K Audio Taper are the standard for humbucker pickups, while 250K are typically used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer sound than a 500K and attenuates some of the high frequencies to ground. However, if you want to retain the high frequencies, it is possible to correct this attenuation with a treble bleed.
Note: When installing the knobs, be sure to lightly pinch the ends of the split shaft before pressing them on. This prevents the knob from jamming or damaging the internal mechanism of the pot.
